Organic Chaga - medicinal mushrooms in powder form
Chaga - the medicinal mushroom from the cold north
This rare tree fungus chaga (pronounced: chaga) grows on the trunks of birch, ash and hornbeam trees. The Chaga that grows on birch trees is particularly important as a medicinal mushroom. The chaga mushroom contains many rare essential minerals and plant substances, which it extracts from the birch tree or produces itself. Chaga from cold regions such as Lapland is particularly valuable.
Legendary and yet hardly known
The leaning chaga mushroom, as we call chaga in this country, is primarily known in Finnish and Russian folk medicine. There it is administered as an elixir and in powder form. Its distribution area is the forests in the northern hemisphere, so it is mainly found in Scandinavia, the tundra of Asia, Japan and Canada. In Germany, the mushroom favours the coastal area of the Baltic Sea and the Bavarian Forest (where the climate is also cold and damp). This unique medicinal mushroom can grow up to half a metre in diameter and looks like a misshapen black dumpling. Chaga contains a wide range of secondary plant substances. In particular, chaga contains an above-average number of powerful antioxidants.
One of the most sought-after medicinal mushrooms
Chaga is significantly drier than all other mushrooms and as hard as the wood on which it grows. If you want to remove it from the trunk, you need a hammer and chisel, sometimes even an axe. However, its unique spectrum of ingredients makes it a real speciality among medicinal mushrooms. However, it is not just these that make chaga so valuable. Rather, it is the interplay of triterpenes, polysaccharides, flavonoids and other vital substances. Only together do they form the unique cocktail that makes the mushroom one of the most sought-after medicinal mushrooms.
The mushroom bodies come from controlled organic cultivation (DE.ÖKO-003)
Tip: In contrast to other medicinal mushrooms, chaga has a slightly sweet flavour. Although the powder can be drunk immediately after infusion (or sprinkled into food), a slightly different method is used in Finland and Russia: The mushroom powder is poured over with hot water and then left to infuse for several hours or a day. The brew is then reheated and only then drunk.
